History

The Pentecostal City Mission Church Inc. proudly celebrates its first foreign mission field that was established and pioneered by its co-founder, the late Bishop Mary Louise Core in March 1939.

It was with obedience and under the unction of the Holy Spirit the Late Bishop Mary Louise Coore and other anointed missionaries came to Belize with the first message, “Woe to the City.” They carried the gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of repentance from street to street through powerful street meetings. This was all new for the people of Belize for they had never seen the power of the Holy Ghost being manifested in such manner. The sick was being healed, people were falling to the ground and it was evident that God had visited the people of Belize. With these manifestations came large crowds which grew larger and larger each night as the dynamic women of God preached the gospel.

Through the years, the City Mission movement has endured, upheld by the faithful service of missionaries and evangelists. Among those who labored in this vineyard are the Late Bishop Delrose Lucille Walters, Bishop Ethel Wilson, Bishop Balzille Elaine Jones, Reverend Ruth Barton, Light Brigade Cecil Chang, and Light Brigade Godoy.

Though the ministry faced challenges and the exodus of missionaries and brethren left the work in decline, history turned in 2000 when Reverend Ethlyn Clarke (then Light-Brigade), sent by God, took up the mantle and began to slowly restore the work of God in both temporal and spiritual dimensions. After Reverend Clarke’s departure, Reverend Janette Randall was then commissioned to further uplift the work. For the very first time in Belize’s church history, four persons were commissioned and ordained by Bishop Dr. Ruby Joy Patterson on March 13th 2018, Belize’s Regional Bishop.

The mission is now spear headed by its own visionary leaders Reverend Kenrick Chang and Assistant Pastors, Reverend Richard and Deaconess Zelia Malic. Eighty years later, history was written anew as PCMC Belize expanded its reach with a new church 59 miles beyond the city limits. On the 30th of June 2019 there was an official church opening in the Unitedville Village, Cayo District, officiated by Our General Overseer Bishop Dr. Donald Maxwell and First Lady Reverend Maxwell. To God be the Glory for the great things He had done. He has given the Pentecostal City Mission Church the keys to the City!

While on a mission trip in Belize, Bishop Delorse Walters encountered a multitude of children, and right then was divinely inspired to launch the Young People’s Group (YPG) ministry in the year 1946 —a truly noteworthy milestone. The Young People’s Group endures as a powerful force within the church, flourishing with more than 30 dedicated youth members.
